Mid April

Project 334, it wasn't the most exciting week--lots of food was had though. Here's a look at the week:

Saturday the 16th I had a hankering for some tasty, healthy food. During my lunch break, I stopped at HEB for a yummy egg salad sandwich and a spinach, pine nut and bean salad. All this was enjoyed at B&N while indulging in a wonderfully interesting book. Time well spent.

Phil and I have decided that Cheddar's is our new favorite beverage spot. Not only does it have delicious, cheap drinks, it has tasty food. Funny story about our visit on the 17th: Phil ordered a monte cristo sandwich. The server dropped one of the four pieces. She brought him an entire new order. The mr definitely looked like a hungry man with seven pieces of sandwiches on his plate that night.

Monday the 18th was such a beautiful day. I took advantage of the weather by having my lunch break outside and sitting on the porch when I got home from work. I love being outdoors.

Tuesday was fun. Just another day at work, but it was the evening that made it lovely. The mr and I had a sweet tooth after dinner. We almost made a trip to Hey Cupcake!, but found some sugar cookie mix in the pantry. Being as awesome as I am, I thought it'd be a great idea to put chocolate in the middle to add an extra sweetness. Oh man, were they tasty. We both got bellyaches from eating too many.

Wednesday, as always, was spent at the gym. I did 14 miles on the stationary bike and a half an hour of weights, but the best part of the workout was seeing this guy! Tattooed from neck to toe and probably somewhere in his 80's, this handsome gentleman spent a great deal of time moving and shaking on the machines. I hope to be like him when I'm older (maybe with a little less body art though).

I really disliked this situation, let alone just taking this photo. I got home from work Thursday night to an empty apartment. The mr was out.  I was in the process of getting comfy when the biggest, ugliest roach ran across my living room floor. Naturally, I screamed loud enough to wake the neighbors. Once I gathered the courage, I tried hitting it as hard as I could with a newspaper. I only turned it upside down, where he proceeded to wiggle under an extra bookshelf. That was when I slammed the shelf down. This was the outcome. Adios roach!

On the 22nd, I found this sweet little note written on the top shelf of my stockroom bays. One of my favorite employees left for school at the beginning of the year, and I just now found his note to the store. Though it was technically vandalism, it was a nice gesture.

Saturday the 23rd was crazy busy at work. It was holy weekend and we did $5500 in sales (big news for our store). To keep up with the energy of the customers and keep my associates' energy up, I was forced to get a sugar high with this delicious double chocolate cookie and hazelnut coffee from Panera. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.

There's a look at my week. I think I gained weigh from all the sugar and food I ate, but it's always nice to indulge. How've you indulged lately?

Love and light.

More things that made me smile

Silly duck!

Just in time for easter

It's true and funny!

Aww! Cute little platypus has a crush on a beaver.

This was my favorite because it's what I think every day!

Have a day full of smiles!

Where did April go!?

This month has passed by so quickly. It seems like just yesterday that I talked about my first week of April. Somehow, I've let two weeks pass by now. So here's where I left off:

Friday the 8th was a busy, busy day. It was the last day of the store's new floorset. Though saturday was the premiere, we had tons of people coming in for the new deals. We were busy all day, all my associates were energetic and we beat our sales goals. I couldn't have asked for a better work day. It's weird that my store's business can drastically alter my mood and how well my day goes.

Saturday the 9th was a busy day at work. It was the premier of our new floorset at work. Another crazy busy day. It felt wonderful coming home to unwind with a glass of wine and two pretty kitties.

Sunday the 10th was great. I got to spend most of the day with one of my favorite people, Jesse. She's the coolest friend. We went to church at 5pm. As always, the service at the Austin Stone was wonderful. We picked up dinner at P. Terry's, and ate at some random golf course we found by the lake. Both of us were in major need of a cupcake so we made a delicious stop at Hey Cupcake! Carrot cake with cream cheese icing--sinfully good.

Monday the 11th made my week. It may not be big news to most, but I finally reached double digits with my followers. You lovely people are the reason I keep sharing my life (well, you and my love for writing). So, muchos gracias to you all :)

Tuesday the 12th was fun. Busy day at work, but was given an opportunity to unwind with a free wash and hair styling from a student at Toni and Guy. She was a talkative little lady, and I enjoyed having my hair played with, so it was a lovely little experience. Not a big difference with the styling, but fun nonetheless. You likes?!

Wednesday started with a horrible situation. A couple days prior, my cat ate part of my bathing suit--about a foot of string from my top piece. Wednesday was the day she got rid of it. As I was getting ready for my day, Madison started gagging. Thinking she had a hairball, I didn't think much of it. When I saw several inches of string coming from her mouth, I panicked, especially when nothing more came out. I ended up having to "yank" the rest out of her. It was a horrible, horrible situation and was very thankful that I was there when she purged it.

I started Thursday off with breakfast and coffee. The best part of breakfast was getting to use my new owl coffee mug. Jesse showed how awesome of a friend she is by getting me a random gift. Not just any random gift though. It was the very item I saw the day before that I almost bought myself. I had just gotten done telling her about this pretty little mug I saw at B&N when she handed me said mug. It's like she knows me!

All I have to say about Friday the 15th is that I've never, ever paid this much for a tank of gas. It's only gonna get worse isn't it?! It is. I actually just got done paying more. It's a sad, sad time.

I've got more photos and days to share, but I'll share on another day--sooner than later though. Enjoy my month so far! Hope your month is worth talking about too.

Love and light.

Back in the day

Remember the good old days when models looked like these ladies--big boned and very curvy? I don't, but wish they were during modern days. Michelangelo and Boucher had it right when they sought out fat bottom girls to fill the whites of their canvases.

I enjoy food way too much to keep up a figure like the current day models. I look forward to the day that ladies like these will bring sexy back.

My "one day" wedding

I don't know why, but every time I watch a wedding show, I get teary eyed and start deep sighing. Ok, I know why--I want one of my own, but I can live off of other peoples' wedding for now.

I do also really enjoy looking at wedding wear and thinking up ideas of how my real day will look like. And, since this season is "wedding season," I can't get enough of all the new dresses and pretty pictures.

The last site I looked at was BHLDN. Not gonna lie, my sister posted the site on her blog, and I couldn't help but check it out. The website asked "what kind of bride are you?" Turns out I'm a "Lady with a twist"
It definitely described the feel I'm wanting for that one day. I fell in love with the dresses that went along with this look, too.

I'm in no hurry, it's just fun to think about. I'm sure it'll happen one day.

Ideas for my "one day" home

I think I'm at the age that I'm in desperate want for a house to call my home. I'm not quite financially set to afford my own house, but it's always nice to dream. If I had one, these are some ideas I'd want to incorporate into it.
I adore the ideas of floor to ceiling windows. I love natural light. It's pleasing to the mind, and saves on energy
Books, as you may or may not know, are a huge passion of mine. Any time that I can display them in any way, can drastically alter my mood when arriving home (I asked for a bookshelf for christmas if that explains my love for displaying books).
This  display just makes me happy. I would love to have this lovely array of cameras.
This is the very color I want as my accent wall in my bedroom. It would pair quite nicely with my dark gray bedding and black brown furniture.

What do you think? Would you want to visit my house if it looked something like this? These are just some ideas. I can't wait for that "one day" till I can finally get my house.

Five things that made me smile

I found these things while perusing the internet. One can never have enough reasons to smile in life. Here are five little things to add to the list.

And this adorable engagement video that I've fallen in love with

Hope you find them equally as smile-worthy as I did.

April: nothing to write home about.

April has not been the most exciting month so far. Maybe my life needed some slowing down to make up for the awesomeness that was March. Either way, it calls for lack of blogs and exciting photography. I tried my best to bring my A game though.

(1st) The first was a beautiful day! First time this year the sun and the weather were being friends. I took this as an opportunity to lay out and get some color before work. It was the first time I went to my pool too. Friday was the preparation day of our new summer collection at work, so it was a great way to unwind before getting caught up in that hectic atmosphere.

(2nd) It was Phil's birthday weekend. A group of us went to dinner at Chuy's Saturday night to celebrate.  We all partook in a couple delicious margaritas during dinner. I cut myself off to let the guys celebrate longer. They took a seat at the bar after dinner to have a couple more drinks. The waitress came over and asked our drink order, when I asked for water her response was "aww, are you not 21 yet?" After a good laugh from everyone I let her know that adults are responsible about drinking and these boys needed a safe ride home. I think we embarrassed her.

(3rd) The mr's birthday! Sundays tend to be lazy days for us, but I truly can't remember the last time I spent a day with no plan at all. We went with the flow all day, and for some reason it felt like I was back in high school--which was probably the last time I didn't have a care in the world. Phil wanted lunch at Cheddar's, though against it at first, I found out why when I saw their $3 sweet tea margaritas. After lunch we went to his friends' house where I napped for an hour while they played video games. The four of us picked up another friend and had an early dinner at Dog Almighty. Went back to our friends' place for a couple hours and ended the night with a stop at Yo-Way frozen yogurt. Laziest day ever, but I'm pretty sure the mr had a great bday.

(4th) Monday was the second day of the store's new floorset. The first day didn't go so hot, so we spent the day trying to recover and continue. On top of that, the store was busy, tons of paper work to do and prep for the following day needed to happen. I closed and stayed extra. The hardest part was that I had to open the next day at 7am. I ended the day knowing things weren't completed. I did my best to unwind when I got home at 12am.

(5th) Tuesday I worked 7am-6pm. Long, busy day. Sometimes it's nice leaving work feeling exhausted, it gives me a sense of accomplishment for some reason. Well, I was feeling super accomplished that day. On top of the new floorset, I also had a review with my district manager. We pretty much agreed on the same areas where I was excelling and lacking. It's always nice to hear it from someone else though. When I got home, I was too pooped to pet the cats. Reni must have been freaked out by that, because she lurked around corners checking on me.

(6th) I had the day off and did my best to sleep in. Went to the gym once I finally got up, and laid out by the pool afterwards. It was a relaxing day. The mr and I made a pan (yes a pan) of nachos for dinner, and ate the whole thing. Just as I was settling in for the night, one of my bffs text me to kindly remind me Lady Gaga was in town and insisted that we go out in celebration. It took some convincing, but I ended up downtown with him in hopes of seeing Gaga. We, and everyone else at the bars we went to, were dressed very 'gaga-esque'. Though we didn't run into her, we had a blast.

(7th) Another fun day at work. Lots to do and tons of customers to please. Knowing this, before work, I did my best to lounge. I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning, though my cat did everything she could think of to get me to move. She was so stressed out that I wasn't paying attention to her, she seemed to have lost her mind. She got herself tangled in the blinds and seemed startled that I would reprimand her for it. She was too cute to be mad at though.

It wasn't a bad week by any means. A lot of relaxing and stressing rolled into each day. I'm okay with it though. It keeps me strong.

I hope everyone is having a happy April and enjoying the extra hour of daylight!

Goodbye March

March has been an awesome, relaxing and eventful month. Here's a look at my last week.

25th. I thought most of my plants died during the crazy winter freeze. Turns out my money tree survived and is blooming well.
26th. My washing machine broke around the beginning of the year. I finally saved up enough money to get an awesome energy saver washer. It works quite lovely.
27th. The mr and I went on a date night for the first time in weeks. Watched Battle LA, and I finally convinced him to eat froyo. He loved it, too. We walked hand in hand eating our yogurt.
28th. After a needed work out at the gym, I stopped by the store and bought some healthy treats and a pretty, green Peace Lilly.
29th. I had a craving for a tuna sandwich--this was the sandwich that ended the craving: Tuna, sunflower seeds, tomato, lettuce, spinach, cheese and olive oil mayo. Got a tummy ache, but well worth it.
30th. On my day off I got my oil changed, tires rotated, new wipers and air filter. While I waited the 3 hours it took, I got a glass of wine down the street. Very relaxing.
31st. The best part about closing at work is watching the sunset in Cali.

As always I can't complain. I've had a really great month. Hope your month was awesome too!
